You may have noticed by now that WiiFolder has moved on to a brand new name. Allow me to welcome you to TheBitBlock! After over 3 years of evolving and reaching for higher levels of polish and quality it’s about time we usher in a new name! TheBitBlock will continue on with the type of content WiiFolder offered, and as always we’ll continue to introduce new types of coverage. I’m happy to announce that in addition to Wii related coverage we will also be covering the Nintendo 3DS come it’s release. The concept behind this new name is based on how the site seems to have evolved into being about core video features which in a way almost act as sides or walls of the site. With that in mind it reminded me of a block and how it has many sides. It was clear that could work very well in our new title. The word “Bit” in our new name is related to the fact that I don’t want us to just focus on the big main video features and never put up smaller types of video content. I hope you all like the name change and look forward to what the site continues to offer!

Switched to a new hosting service

Just wanted to quickly inform you all that we had a few hours of down time yesterday afternoon. The reason for this was we’ve switched over to a safer and more reliable hosting service for the site. All is well now and we’re back up and running! Sorry for any troubles it may have caused.

We're Seeing Red!

To celebrate the upcoming release of Ubisoft’s Red Steel 2 for Wii, we’ve gone ahead and transformed WiiFolder to suit the game! If you’re interested be sure to become a fan on the Red Steel 2 Facebook page to possibly win signed art from the team! You can also stay up to date on the game by following UbiLeak’s Twitter account and checking out the website from time to time. We’ll have our own coverage on the game as soon as possible. For now we can all sit and imagine what fun it will be to use Wii Motion Plus to slice up enemies!

Animal Crossing Video Journal Collection

Long time viewers will remember the Animal Crossing Video Journal that we used to produce. You may realize that all those past videos have gone missing from the site. After getting way too many emails asking where they went, we’ve decided to bring them back in an exclusive Youtube channel. Look at this as a collection of the WiFi videos and not a revival of the feature. Please enjoy the classic videos such as Mole Cricket Hunting, our first Fishing Tourney, the Epic Race and many more!

Just wanted to pop in and let you all know why the site hasn’t updated in a couple days. I’m hard at work on several big features for the site. We’re doing a Mario Party video feature which is going to showcase our top 5 picks for the best Mini Games in every single game. I’m also working on a very special feature related to Animal Crossing that I hope you’ll all enjoy! For now I hope you’ll continue to enjoy our Wii Sports Resort coverage while you wait just a few more days to play the game yourselves!

Also check this little gem out… Found this photo the other day. It’s me as a young lad playing some Bubble Bobble on NES. Thought a few of you would find that comical.

Melee! Pokemon Scramble – DELAYED STREAM

I apologize but the LIVE Wii-Vent for Melee! Pokemon Scramble is being delayed until tomorrow Wednesday June 17th at 4pm central time zone. I was swamped with work today and was not able to get away to host the stream.

I got about 10 emails from people asking me to push it back until around 4 in the afternoon so now you guys can check it out tomorrow! The Live Stream will be in a new post on the site so keep an eye out for it tomorrow about an hour before it goes live!

Sorry for the delay. New pool came a day earlier than expected.

New DLC in City Folk – JP Umbrella

On June 15th Japanese Animal Crossing City Folk players can grab this very odd Umbrella to keep themselves dry in the rain storms. This DLC will be up until July 5th in Japan.

The Munchables Website Open!

Bandai Namco has opened up their official website for The Munchables. You can find all sorts of videos, wallpapers and info on the game here. You can even pop into the shop and order some Munchables merchandise.

Current DLC in Animal Crossing City Folk

One of the greatest new features in Animal Crossing City Folk on Wii are the DLC items. It would be nice if the items came faster and we got new sets of furniture, but having a few new items every month is still very cool. This is a complete list of the current DLC items that have been sent out across the world. Which do you have? What kind of items would you like to see? Leave a comment!

“Red Pikmin”

The Red Pikmin hood was the very first DLC item given out to players in Japan on December 24th (Christmas Eve). Since then this item has been sent out to all players across the world. Go ahead and plant yourself into a Pitfall, snap a photo and enjoy the hilarity!

“Top”

This Top (or Koma in Japanese) was given out to only Japanese players on New Years day. Sadly, It does not spin or move in any way. This may be one of the more rare DLC items in City Folk so far.

“Girl’s Day Updo”

This large wig was given out on Girl’s Day (March 3rd) in Japan to celebrate… girls obviously. The interesting thing about this DLC item is that the Wig will change colors based on what color your actual hair is.

“Tokonoma”

This Japanese exclusive item was given out on March 17th. It is a piece of traditional Japanese interior decoration which displays a hanging scroll.

“Shamrock Hat”

The Shamrock Hat was given to players in North America and Europe on March 17th to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. This is the first DLC that Japanese players did not receive. This hat may also be considered one of the game’s “Lucky Items”.

“Nintendo DSi B” and “Nintendo DSi W”

These 2 Nintendo DSi benches were sent to players in North America and Europe to celebrate the launch of the Nintendo DSi handheld system. Interestingly the white bench was distributed to Europe and the black bench to North America. Japanese players have yet to receive this item.

“Student Cap” and “Student Shirt”

This is the first time that Nintendo has sent 2 items to players at once. Wendall the walrus waits outside your house and gives you a special Student Shirt pattern. After saving your game and returning Pete gave players the Student Cap. Both items obviously go together and in Japan are called “Gakuran” which means Student Uniform.
