Send messages to Friends on your 3DS with Swapnote!

One feature that has been desperately absent from the Nintendo 3DS is an option to send messages to Friends. Thankfully the new application known as Swapnote puts an end to those lonely message free days. Hand draw your letters, add sound bytes and even attach an image. There’s lots of fun to be had with Swapnote! Check out some footage from the JP version of the application below.

3DS FIRST LOOK – Cubic Ninja

Cubic Ninja for the 3DS has arrived at TheBitBlock and we’ve got a quick First Look just for you! The game is all about carefully guiding a cube shaped Ninja through a variety of hazardous stages. With both normal and motion controls you’ll be able to play the way you like. There’s a lot of charm in the game already and I’ve only just begun playing! The AR Cards (Augmented Reality Cards) packed in with every Nintendo 3DS system, are the most fun you’ll ever have with a piece of paper. Simply place an AR Card on any flat surface and watch the fun sprout out from the card! Being able to set up scenes with your virtual 3D Miis and Nintendo’s biggest stars is lots of fun.

Nintendo 3DS Sound Channel Demonstration

One of the cool features built in to every Nintendo 3DS system is the Nintendo 3DS Sound channel. It allows you to load up your own MP3 files to an SD Card (one comes with the system) and then listen to music and record your own sound files. As you can tell from the video below it’s certainly built with lots of Nintendo charm. Of course you can close your 3DS and then plug in a headset to listen with your system closed and in your pocket while you jog or perhaps just walk around.

It’s a very surreal moment when you see your desk turned into a fishing pond, or perhaps a dragon burst out from underneath! GDC News – Super Mario 3DS Revealed!

Super Mario is coming to the Nintendo 3DS in a brand new 3D adventure game! Based on these early screens from Mr. Iwata’s GDC Keynote it seems the gameplay will have a strong focus on platforming. The game’s logo has a mysterious tail sticking out, which according to Mr. Iwata will be explained at E3 2011 in June. It certainly puts me in mind of the Super Mario Bros. 3 logo with it’s Tanooki tail.

Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll – Trailer + FACTS

Sega just recently announced this new version of Monkey Ball which uses the Wii Balance Board. It releases in February of 2010. While we wait let’s grab a potassium filled banana and check out this info about the game…

-AiAi, GonGon, MeeMee and Baby are confirmed as playable.

-Can use the Wii Remote’s motion sensing if you do not wish to play with the Balance Board.

-Main mode features at least 7 Worlds each consisting of 10 stages.

-Each world’s theme is the same as Banana Blitz.

-All stages are completely new.

-Sega claims the game’s environments have a ‘significant visual upgrade’.

-New Multiplayer minigames as well as some ‘favorites’ returning from Banana Blitz.

-All the new minigames were designed with the balance Board in mind.

-One new minigame called “See Saw Ball” has players tilting seesaws to get their monkey to land as close to the center on a bottom platform as possible.

-Apparently the game has another ‘fresh new’ secret method of control that Sega will not mention as of yet. Nintendo Power it ‘could be very cool’.

-One reason Sega is creating Step & Roll is to challenge player’s athletic abilities with the Balance Board.

JP Virtual Console – Super Mario Kart

We’ve all been busy steering our way through the intense action in Mario Kart Wii that it’s very odd / nice to come back to the game that started it all. Super Mario Kart released on Wii’s Virtual Console this morning in Japan! Check out some footage of the game running on Wii just below. You can use the Gamecube or Classic Controller to play… though I still have a tendency to actually move around the controller to turn.
