Happy Birthday to Red Steel 2!

It’s March 23rd, which means only 1 year ago the exhilarating First Person Brawler known as Red Steel 2 made it’s long awaited debut on the Wii. To this day the title holds a special place in my motion controlled gaming heart. Nothing really gives you the feeling of slicing and shooting down your foes quite like Wii Motion Plus and Red Steel 2.

Not to mention the title has a fantastic art style and features loads of creative characters and environments. I would like to take this time to once again send a special thanks to the devoted team behind Red Steel 2. Ubisoft created one of the best core experiences on Wii, and went from a disappointing first attempt, to a massive turn around with a great sequel!

1 year later the game is still loads of fun, looks great and still works up a sweat. Then again nobody said taking back your home town from those scum Jackals would be easy!

You haven’t picked the game up yet? Better late than never! Red Steel 2 can be found in most stores for a mere $20.00… seriously… you CANNOT go wrong here. Besides I want Red Steel 3 on the Super Wii HD in a couple of years! Pick it up soon or I’ll be forced to use my Kusagari skills to change your mind!

  1. I still haven’t played this, as I don’t own a WM+ and didn’t go pick up my copy of the game I reserved, because I ended up getting another game instead at the time.

I may be getting a WM+ unit very soon(tomorrow possibly), and I want to give this a try, but it’s going to have to wait a little while, until I finish or fail my New Year’s video game resolution.

  2. Coolio! That second one was kinda creepy. Now I’m DEFINITELY getting the game! :D

I remember both of those levels! They were both very challenging I love the canyon more though but there is one flaw, if you wanna redo it you have to go to challenge mode and for those of you who don’t know you CAN NOT save in between and when I redid the canyon level took me 3 HOURS NO JOKE!

  4. Red Steel 2 was a great game. I loved playing through it, but when you complete the game you realise that there is one major flaw: The complete lack of a new game + option. If you missed out on a gun in your first playthrough, you can’t start again and get it and when you reached the final level you were trapped in there without being able to go back for supplies. When you picked new game you still had to go through the horrible tutorials and that. Still, aside from that major flaw Red Steel 2 is ace, well worth getting!

      yup!I agree!that flaw too…

  5. Definitely agree on the game being a must have. It certainly wasn’t perfect; it felt like it should have had a ‘new game+’ so you could transfer things over when you start a new game, and the environments towards the end of the game were a bit more dull… but the visceral feeling of swinging your arm full force to knock a guy down, then flicking backwards to stab a guy coming up from behind? That’s what the Wii is meant for.

  6. I just have to thank you for remembering such a fun and exciting game. It gives me great expectations for Skyward sword and confuses me that lucas arts hasn’t made their own game that utilizes the WM+. RS3 would probably make me awaken the inner kusagari as well lol

  7. Sweet $20, I’ll have to pick this up! :D

  8. WAIT…wait….wait a moment…. SUPER WII?!?
