Save Our Grass Petition

For those of you who have played Animal Crossing: City Folk for more than about a week I’m sure you can relate to the above image. A new feature in the game has players destroying their grass by simply walking or running over it. If you walk it kills the grass at a slower rate, but never the less the grass in your town will die off very quickly. This leaves you with a gross, depressing town.
Frankly, as one of the many City Folk players I can’t take looking at a giant mud pit of a town anymore. This is a very annoying feature which seems to have been tossed in at the last minute of development and it needs to be fixed by releasing a patch over the Wii Shop Channel.
I have yet to speak to anyone who enjoys this feature in the game. Please sign the Save Our Grass Petition to let Nintendo know you would like a patch released to allow us to remove this feature from our towns. This petition will be sent to several people at Nintendo once it reaches a certain amount of signatures

It’s times like this that I wish Nintendo had really tried to reinvent a series.
Anyway, I’ll check out the petition, but don’t expect Nintendo to ever fix this.
I do play and hate seeing my barren wasteland of a town. I’ve even started the game over to see if I could stop it from happening, but nope it still died.

I actually have City Folk, but haven’t played it long enough to see the grass go away…. I’ll get back to you when I have.
BTW, from what I’ve heard, it is possible to get all your grass back, but it takes several months, with out TTing.
Hey Josh, have you tried planting ALOT of flowers and trees? This “aids” in the restoration of your grass to a slight point, but technically this feature was to encourage players to plant and focus on keeping the town healthy. But I suppose it’s alright if…. well not to really sure… Well for the heck of it. I’ll support it, IT’S A CAUSE FOR GREEN! =B
No wonder Hocotate is always covered with tiles; you’re losing grass.

You can save your grass if you plant some stuff like flowers and trees but come on, I don’t wanna plant flowers and trees just to save my grass, thats just stupid!
I really hope that Nintendo fix that problem.
@Skukiluz: I know AC is all about how you play the game and how you live your life, but planting trees and flowers actually add flair and life to your town. Not to mention it nets you lots of money due to fruit (I can easily make over 30,000 bells in one acre).
With Nintendo having made the game so depressing with the grass so easily killable, I’m not sure I want the game anymore. And with the added fact that I’d never play with anyone because none of my friends would ever consider getting the game who make it that much more depressing.
Hey Josh, I created a topic on Gamefaqs.com about your petition so that more people have the chance to sign. I also think that you should create a YouTube video about this whole matter so that even more people can get involved in this.
I’ve gone so far that I’ve put homebrew on my Wii and used the hack to get rid of the mud and I got my snow/grass back. After playing one day the snow/grass is already showing marks
It would be a nice add-on if Nintendo would create an official fix that would allow users to regrow the grass overnight.

There’s probably like other petitions like this around the ‘net. But yeah, this is an annoying feature indeed. I don’t know if a patch would be possible or if this petition would help, but I signed.

Is it just me or in the right picture it looks like Josh’s charater is spitting out a marshmallow. BTW I singed it (even though I don’t have the game and it doesn’t look intresting to me although I may buy it when it’s cheaper)

Hey Josh, have yoe ever thought of sending a letter to IGN for the Nintendo Team to read? They might send it over to Nintendo/Reggie to complain about it. I’m not sure if they know this happens in the game, but I really want my snow/grass to come back. I’ve gotten almsot all my friend who own/play the game to sign it! Thanks for making this, I really want Animal Crossing to look pretty again, I mean, I got the game in November, so I don’t know what the Spring/Summer look like! I want to see a full feild of grass!

What’s the latest news on this. Have Nintendo said anything? I brought the game yesterday, thought i’d do a bit of background reading, discovered this, and i think its just going to totally spoil the game…. i may even take it back to the shop and get my money back.
I was so looking forward to this game as well. Looks like Nintendo have ruined it with this stupid “path” idea…
I totally agree with this petition 100%. I hope that it attracts lots of attention soon, enough to fix the problem. Oh, and congrats on getting over 5,000 signatures!
Just recently, I’ve been researching different techniques that players have been using to regrow their grass. One method that stood out the most not only helps regrow grass, but also helps to produce hybrids much easier. Here’s how it works:
Place an already grown hybrid in the center of a 3×3 hole space.
Next, plant four flowers (one at each corner of the 3×3 space) that it took to produce the hybrid (ex. pink rose in center, two white and two red roses, one for each corner).
Finally, the best part: All you have to do is water the hybrid in the middle of the 3×3 space! Doing this automatically waters any remaining flowers that are in the 3×3 area.
Overall, this provides minimal grass damage, saves a ton of time and gives you rare hybrids.
