This is the new format I will be doing Video Tours in from now on. This video will show you the basics of Captain Rainbow. I plan on doing a few more Video Tours for the game this week.

  1. As always, love the tours Josh. By the way, awesome shirt.

  2. Nice job Josh

  3. Great video tour, Josh! I really should buy this game.

  4. This is quite unrelated, but where did you get that shirt?

  5. Really like the new look to the always great tours. This does seem like a interesting game that hopefully gets localized.

  6. I dig this game, and have been going at it on and off for a week now. I’m at about 2.5 in game hours.

For the review, there is a point to using the pointer over the plants, it reveals secret Mimins (they squeak when you cross them, press A to reveal). But, I’ve got the double belt, and can’t get the birdo quest going. It’s bugging the hell out of me. Captain Rainbow is there, I powered up, and Birdo is in a cage, and I can’t figure out how to trigger the next part. My Japanese is passable, but probably only 70% for this game, so hopefully what I’m missing is in that 30%, or I’m a moron. You must be gifted to play this with zero Japanese.

    Probably I’m a moron though.

Go to Birdo’s house, look under the pillow on her bed. Bring that “?” to Mappo the Robot and give it to him by highlighting him and pressing + on the Wii Remote.

  8. Thanks Josh.

Actually, I’m not there yet. I got the battery out of the robot, but can’t charge it because of the black stuff (in Japanese, yogore, dirt). There’s black stuff in 3 areas (cop’s battery, the windmill and the pipe. I’m sure there’s an easy answer, but I just can’t get it going.

A guide will turn up sooner or later, but it seems pretty unpopular in Japan so far, so I’ll have to keep my eyes open for one.

  9. def – Put CR’s YoYo in that box in the dojo behing the giant door. hen you’ll get the power to destroy the dirt.

  10. Thanks again, unfortunately, I have the double yoyo! So far I can just break small rocks with it. On the item screen, it’s in the belt. But when I hit the dirt, it says もっと強力。。必要, which is like, more power is needed…

I appreciate you taking the time out to try to help. One of these days some guide will show up, either here or when it’s released in the States.

    Cheers!

You have to shake the Wii remote to build up power and then shoot the shadow ooze.

  12. YESSSS! I wasn’t shaking the remote at all. I can read Japanese, but it’s a second language and slow, so I must have skipped that instruction. Many thanks. If you need anything from a gaijin in Japan, let me know!

  13. def – Happy I could help! If you get stuck again feel free to email me.
