This June I'm Gonna Slug ya!

With less than a month until Mario Super Sluggers comes out in Japan (26 days to be exact) I’m very anxious and excited! I’m such a huge fan of the Gamecube version, played it like crazy with a bunch of buddies all through the summer it came out. Hell, I even imported the Japanese version back then.

So naturally the brand new Wii version is looking to be our main summer game as well. Trust me when June 19th rolls around this site will be cranking out the Sluggers media like crazy. I’m really going to get the Tours & Gameplay Videos up for this game asap!

Until I’m able to (hopefully) bring you guys one of the first extensive looks at Sluggers, here’s a look at the latest scan for the game, with translated info thanks to JohtoKen!

-9 Total Stadiums to play in (Possible 10th one is unlocked?)

-More extensive Story Mode.

-Up to 4 players can play all Modes.

-Every character has special pitching & batting abilities: Mario throws / hits a massive Fireball, Luigi uses the Tornado Ball, Yoshi has an Egg Rainbow move & Bowser Jr. sends splatters of paint everywhere which hide where the ball is.

-New Defensive Items can be used such as a Cannon that shoots a Bob-Omb at a fielder who is just about to catch your pop-up fly ball. This is done by pointing at the screen with the Wii Remote and pressing the B trigger to fire.

-Play during the Day or at Night in Stadiums.

-Play as your Miis.

-Perform Special character moves in the outfield. For example: Jump on Mario’s head for an extra boost into the air to catch fly balls.

-The game is running on a brand new engine, built from the ground up for Wii. Not a rehashed engine of the Gamecube game. This means higher res textures, more detail in animations, nicer effects, smother looking characters, etc.

-Shake Wii Remote to run faster, but not necessary.

-Swing Wii Remote to hit the ball when Batting.Your results will vary based on the strength and timing of your movement.

-Swing Wii remote to pitch. You can add spin and curve to the ball if your twist your wrist when pitching. You can also pitch faster by swinging harder.

Here is a quick look at the classic Mario Stadium on both the gamecube and Wii version. You’ll notice the Wii version looks much nicer. Textures are higher res, the character’s look smoother, shadows cast on the players and outfield and the stadium is not just 1 flat texture. It’s also in full 16:9 widescreen. CAN’T WAIT!

  1. I didn’t like mario superstar baseball that much but, I plan on getting mario strikers charged.

  2. It seems like Wi-Fi is going to be left out, unless something gets announced pretty soon here. It would be a real shame if they exclude it.

  3. Wii Folder covered Wii Fit last year. You can go watch those Video Tours on the revver account if you want.

  4. I think my Wi-Fi statement got misread. Come to think of it, Wi-Fi is somewhat close to Wii Fit, isn’t it?

  5. Oh wow, haha I’m sorry I TOTALLY did misread that! I thought you said Wii Fit, sorry.

Mario Super Sluggers does not have WiFi support. It would be on the boxart, or mentioned by now in the several scans for the game.

I’m not a WiFi type gamer so I’m not disappointed.

  6. It’s ok, it’s actually easy to mix those two up.

I’ll probably still pick up the game. I really liked the first, even though it lacked online as well.

  7. The hell are you smoking Josh the Wii version doesn’t look that much better than the gamecube one at all, judging from those screens.

  8. i can wait til this game comes out i like bowser jr. and i like how he got a paint brush bat
